With the impending arrival of vital manufacturing machinery, Storage Carousel experts AMH were commissioned with the task of reducing the amount of storage space currently occupied by conventional racking, whilst improving picking accuracy and providing full stock traceability, on a limited budget.

SPACE SAVINGS OF UP TO 80%!
After a detailed survey and analysis of the existing stock, AMH identified that by installing three refurbished storage carousels and re-housing the existing stock into purpose designed storage bins, VG Scienta could make space savings of up to 80%.  By opting for refurbished units, VG Scienta were able to take advantage of around 50% cost savings when compared to new units.

SEARCH FOR THE RIGHT PART IN SECONDS!
Picking is optimised compared to the original racking system, whereby the operator simply has to enter the part number into a PC, leaving the machine to locate then bring to the operator the correct shelf, whilst an LED light indicator identifies the correct bin.  The operator can then search for the next part within seconds.  The AMH ‘SmartStock Lite’ Windows based software, provides part location as well as quantity control and is designed to be both user friendly and effective in improving picking accuracy.

Sencon is one of the market leaders of control and quality solutions for the packaging industry, so once the decision had been made to relocate to a new purpose designed premises, storage carousel experts AMH Services were contacted to provide a cost-effective and viable solution to provide and implement a parts storage solution within the new facility.

Following a detailed site survey, and customer stock analysis, AMH calculated that by using vertical storage carousels, Sencon could reduce the space occupied by conventional racking by in excess of 80%. With rising warehouse rents, space is becoming even more of a premium than ever, and by utilizing the interior height of a building, you eliminate the “paying for fresh air” syndrome associated with conventional racking. To increase the savings further, by opting for AMH reconditioned units a 50% saving was achieved when compared to new units.

AMH delivers significant savings for Menzies Distribution

AMH Services have driven savings of around 70% in the cost of maintaining and servicing the conveyor equipment across the Menzies distribution network. “Taking a ‘value driven’ approach to maintenance enables us to achieve an optimised use of resource, ensuring each hour of maintenance time results in a tangible benefit whilst reducing breakdowns. Too often maintenance is delivered on a purely ‘time-based’ interval, regardless of the condition of the plant. This inevitably leads to wastage in maintenance time with no visible benefit” says AMH Managing Director, Spencer Roberts.
